2009 - Omena Historical Society Elects New Omena Mayor!
Omena Historical Society President Nana Kannedy precided over the festivities with Ed Oberndorf presenting the new mayor with his top hat. Turnout for the groundbreaking event exceeded expectations. The candidates behaved themselves and our local deputy, Ross Arena, was not called into action although some of the candidates had questionable pedigrees! County Road Commissioner, Lee Bowen provided traffic control and was seen putting his life on the line to keep things flowing down Isthmus Street and Omena Point Road. The Omena Historical Society appreciates the generosity and community spirit that made this all possible. Hail to the new mayor Tucker! 
Our historical society's first ever mayoral contest was a huge success raising over $5,000!
